Perched on a vertiginous peak 1,250m above sea level, the Mediaeval village of Ilonse overlooks the Tinée Valley.

It is built in tiers, with a splendid covered wash house with columns, superb stone façades, a Baroque chapel painted bright yellow, a Mediaeval arcaded covered passageway and a little square with a panoramic terrace, etc. At the highest point in the village, an orientation table identifies all the main peaks in the Alpes-Maritimes département.
Sights: Saint-Michel church (13th c), inside: Chœur (15th c), listed paintings; Saint-Grat chapel (17th c); Saint-Pons, Saint-Maur and Saint-Antoine chapels.
