This exhibition is part of the celebration of its hundredth anniversary after the opening of the Centre Pompidou and the Louvre, with the bringing together of 20 paintings from major museums around the world.
For the tribute paid to Nice by the Departmental Council, more than one hundred original works have been brought together: paintings, engraved works, bronze, illustrated books.
The exhibition presents seventy-two original painted and engraved works by the artist in a chronological itinerary from 1946 to 2008. To complete the study of the artist's work, these references and highlights of Pierre Soulages' cultural dialogues take place in the exhibition in order to better enter the painter's universe.
In the southern hemisphere, the exhibition of this Mediterranean painter aims to consecrate Pierre Soulages as the inventor of a new painting of mysterious beauty.
